: : : Hopefully i'm soon to be joining a band in need of a bass player :-)
: : : They play low so i'd need to tune to 'B,E,A,D'. I don't have the money to buy a 5 string so i'm considering using a 5 string set of strings without the G string (advice taken from an earlier post from El Pajaro).
: : : This would require widening of the slots of the nut. OK. But i was wondering when/if I change back to E,A,D,G would the nut have to be changed, or could I get away with having wider slots than the strings???
: : : Cheers,,,Richy.

: : I think warwick has an adjustable nut. -B

: I beleive Warwicks nut adjusts up and down...not notch size...but i may be wrong

I'm sure your right, I don't have a reliable source on that. Maybe check with the luthiers who have sites? thay might be able to point you in the right direction.
