Funny that you mention the BTS because after a little more research, that is what I have on order (BTS for 4 knobs). I'm taking your and HUB's advice and stripping out the old electronics. The reason I was going with the 40P instead of the 40DC was the "maximum recommended string width" on the 40DC is only 3.125 and when I measured the string spacing on each of my pickups, it showed 3.00 and 3.18. Since the 3.18 was larger then the recommended 3.125, I opted away from the 40DC. But now you have me thinking that I maybe ought to get one 40P for the 3.18 and one 40DC for the 3.00 hmmmmmmm ;-)

: Thanks for the advice. I'm glad to hear you are liking your change. Makes me want to upgrade mine that much more. By the way, why did you choose the 40DC over the 40P? Had you heard each before? Any comments would be appreciated.

Hi DDazey,

I had a bass that had P/J pick-ups in it. I took them out and replaced them with EMG's P/J system. Great improvement. So I have heard the P (just a different version). One thing I like about the DC's is they have higher output than all the other ones (you can wire them up with two 9 volt batteries). This gives you even better clarity than the standard ones. I would stick with just the P's for your set up. I'm not sure if you want to mix them like that (I suppose you could, but I'm not sure how well it would work). The DC's don't require 18 volts, they just recomend it. With the higher output, there is less noise. I can't hear any at all when I'm not playing and I have it plugged in. So it's really nice! Anyway, I would talk to someone who knows more about it for sure, if you have a music store near by that sells EMG, ask them. Or if you have a Guitar Center near by, they would know too. I hope that helps!
