: Hi, I am looking to buy a new bass and i am seriously considering buying the new Ibanez BTB 515. Does anyone here have one, used one, or heard about them? Let me know what you think of it! Thanks

Paul, about a month ago, I played all the Ibanez BTB basses, and all I can say is they are fantastic. The top of the line, the BTB1005 sounded the best, but the others were very close. They have what I'd describe as an active Jazz Bass tone, but slightly different. The electronics are very good, no boominess or hissy treble. They balance very well when sitting, and IMHO the absolute best feature about these basses is their *KILLER* B string. Their Bs are so clean and clear, it's scary. I'd say that they have one of the best low Bs of any bass. The 35" scale probably helps here. One word of caution: Their necks are as wide as a river, but, I felt myself getting used to them by the time I left the store. I don't need another bass(who does?) but I want a five string and the 415 or the 515 are at the top of my list. I frequent a few other forums, and
people that generally don't like Ibanez admit that this is one that Ibanez got right. If you get a chance, check one out, they are excellent.
