Hi HUB again,

I think your first method might be better, coz the fret 5 produces a lot of harmonic, and left hand muting whether just touching or half-pressing will not work, unless more than one finger is used. But then the other fingers are too busy {92bpm 16ths} {well, at least too busy for me...}.

I am now experimenting with various ways of right hand finger muting. Looks weird, but I hope I can work it out!
