: I have an Ibanez SGR500 and the action on it has gotten really bad. I played an SGR200 last night and could not believe how easy it played comparatively. I've had my bass for a good 7 years and I live in FL where it's humid most of the time and the bass sits in an un-airconditioned room. I know it's probably time to buy something new, but I just wanted to see if there was anything I could do to this one first.

: Thanks,

Hey there,
Yes, there's a lot of small, easy adjustments you can do yourself before throwing your axe off the window! Just grab a couple of hex wrenches ans start doing some tweaking in the truss rod and bridge saddles. If you don't feel confident enough to do it yourself, take your axe to a qualified tech for a professional setup. It shouldn't set you back a lot of dough and your bass should play a lot better after it. Buena suerte and keep your bass up front in the mix,

El Pájaro
