: I don't know anything about bass guitars but i own a p-bass. When i play the strings (mainly the e string, i think thats the right one) they are really slack, even when perfectly in tune. How do i make the strings less slack? I played a friends bass and the strings were really tight like he'd wound his strings up really high. I think this is called string tension, but like i said i know nothing about bass guitars. I want my strings to be less slack cause at the moment it's pissing me off.
>>>Sounds like you've got a very light guage string on your bass if they're
that "floppy". Try re-stringing with a heavier guage. 45-105 guage is a
good guage for Fender Basses. Depending on how your truss rod and bridges
are set-up, you may have to re-adjust after installing the heavier strings.
