: I have one more question! What difference does a straight vs. a slightly curved neck do for playing, feel, and action? I prefer the action to be as low as possible. Do I want some relief to the neck (which it has now) or do I want to straighten it out?
: Thank you very very much in advance!
I like a ruler straight neck. But this requires some work on the nut with srting height and such. If you straighten your neck out, you will probably start getting in to fret buzz. the relief is there to eliminate this. Try straightening the neck (use a steel ruler) and get it perfectly straight. then raise the strings and see if you can get a comfortable action and see how much fret buzz you have. If need be, back off on the struss rod ever so slightly to get rid of said fret buzz, and see if you can lower the strings a little. Do some experimenting, you will find the perfect combo for you, and you will eliminate all fear of doing it yourself. Peace....John
