: Hello, I just bought a GK 800RB, but don't have cabinets yet. I know I want a 2x10 top to run off the 100watt high, but I am not so sure about the bottom. 15 or 18? I have an opportunity to buy an EV 15, 400w, 8 ohm. The amp puts out 300w into 4ohm, and 200 into 8ohm. How much real-world difference does this make? Is the rig much louder/better sounding with a 4ohm load? Any thoughts on the 15 vs 18 would be appreciated. I play in a metal band at the moment, but don't want to limit myself. Please help me! Thanks, Geoff

Hi, I had THE exact set up you are talking about way back in the 80's. It was the 800Rb, A Hartke 2x10 on top and a Hartke 1x15 on the bottom. Let me tell rocked! I had no problem being heard. I like the 15 on the bottom because it is a tight big speaker, plenty of surface to move the air, but not too flabby. The bi-amped 2x10 is plenty to get the highs through and you have the ease of bringing different combos to different size gigs. The 15 is a powerful speaker just by itself. Hope this helped...peace John
