: I just read that Leon Wilkeson the Bass player for Lynyrd Skynyrd passed away last night, he was only 49.
: Wilkeson has to be one of the most underated bass players in all of rock and roll. He was a big influence on my own bass playing and always amazed me with the clear and harmonic bass lines he could make cut through the three guitar mayham that was Lynyrd Skynyrd.
: I've seen them play about 5 times and was never disappointed.
: So if you out there playing tonight, play a Skynyrd song for Leon.
Leon was *definitely* one of the great under-rated bassists; I agree 100% about how great his bass lines were, and I'm *definitely* gonna miss him!
But I'd bet that Leon is having one *awesome* jam up in Heaven with his friends tonight! :-)
(and can you see God sitting on His throne, saying "play Freebird!!!"?)
Rest In Peace, Leon...
