: Hey guys! I thought it would be interesting to hear everyone's opinions on Fender P-Basses. You know, the ones all the funk guys used in the 60s and 70s -particularly when the P-bass is strung with flat wounds! The Jass bass is pretty popular because of guys like Jaco and Marcus (and many others too numerous to list) and because it has that great growl to it.

: But, how many of you like the P-bass sound, hate the P-bass sound, play a P-bass, or have compared a P-bass to a Jazz bass?

: Cheers,

I bought a fender american standard P bass a few months ago, and have since fallen in love with the thing... the passive pickups in my opinion have just as much punch as alot of the active basses ive played, and i can get all the sound variation i need in one knob. The neck is perfect, and the thing is great for slapping. at first the fender line turned me off by its simplicity and 'standardness' but thats what ive grown to love about the bass. in my opinion the p bass kicks total ass, and looks great. -chris
