: Recently I've found having to hold the neck of my bass up while playing annoying and getting in the way of playing. If I use my fret hand to hold it up, moving up and down the neck is a problem. Using my playing hand to push down on the body of my bass gets in the way of that hand playing.

: Do I have to try and live with it or are there any ideas that could help???

Hey there,
my first piece of advice would be: Get rid of that bass! You obviously are playing an axe with a very bass balance problem. Try to find a bass that stays put wether you play sitting or standing. Still, if you want to keep your bass, experiment with different strap lenghts (I mean, I'm assuming you use a strap, right?) until it feels just right.
Hope it helped. Buena suerte and keep your bass up front in the mix,

El Pájaro
