: I have a bass guitar I bought some 30 yrs. ago, the name of the bass is either Ayar or Avar.Would someone know the history of this guitar, its approx. value and is it vintage. Just how old does a bass guitar have to be before it is considered vintage.

James,
Hmmmmm...

That brand name doesn't really ring a bell, but I'd imagine it would probably be Japanese, given its age.

I can't give you a value, and I'd kinda doubt that it would be legitimately considered "vintage"; very few of the off-brands from that era have developed any real value among collectors, unfortunately.

If you have a picture of it, I might be able to identify it a little more accurately; send to rfblec@earthlink.net, and I'll see what I can do. If you can't, a detailed description would probably help.

Hope that helps!

-Bob
