Back on 07/02/01 our member Zach posted an enthusiastic review of the Yamaha Nathan East NE-1 parametric EQ unit, which got me interested in it. Well, I bought one, and everything he said is true.(not that we'd ever doubt you, Zach)
You've all probably heard me rave about the tone of the Epiphone Jack Casady bass, which really has to be heard to be appreciated. I never thought any effect could improve the tone of the Casady, only change it. The NE-1 does what I think a lot of you out there will like; it lets you really shape the midrange frequencies to the point where you can get tones out of your bass you never knew were there. If there is such a thing as a "perfect" bass tone, this thing takes you there. It takes the familiar sound of your bass, and then will make it sound as fat, or as delicate as you want, and the slightest turn of the frequency knob can be noticed. I could ramble on, but, if you want an effect that won't change your bass' sound, but, expand it, you must check this thing out. It's amazing.
