: Just played a great bass, a "new" G&L L2500. Played the stick for about 30 minutes and could get a ton of different tones-you name it. I slapped it and even walked a few jazz riffs. OK, I want this bass, but...
: The bass has a 3-way toggle that turns the preamp off, on and on with treble boost. When I turned the preamp on, I noticed a slight hum and of course a little more hum when I turned the preamp on with the treble boost.
: Can this hum be silenced or muted some way. Will this hum interfere with any studio work? I mostly play live, but I don't want to buy a bass that won't work out in the studio.
Dabass, I've never played a G&L, but, I've heard a lot of similar complaints about them being noisy. Some say that the pickups are very hot, and this is what causes the noise. I just bought a Yamaha bass, but, G&Ls are on my list for the next bass purchase along with Musicman and Esh. First, I gotta pay this one off. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. They are very nice, though.
