: I have recently played a stingray at guitar center, im kinda liking it. I have small hands and I now play a ibanez 1200 series, so there is a big differance. But personally I think the fender has even a fatter neck than the stingray 4 and 5 string. They both have acceptional tone, but I think I would lead toward the Music Man, when considering puchasing one,but was just curious what all you bass masters out there think..
Rob, ditto to what Dave said. I'd like to add something though. A lot of people like basses with thin necks, such as the Fender Jazz, and I used to be one of them. It's not that I dislike thin necks now, but, after playing a ton of different basses recently, I actually got to like basses with very wide necks as well. For years I couldn't understand this preference that alot of bass players have, but, I gave it a chance, and now I prefer the wider necks. Go figure. When you buy a bass though, it absolutely has to feel comfortable in your hands from the get go. My dangerous way of thinking(money wise)is to buy the bass that feels most comfortable, then, six months later buy something else. I love buying basses. Help me.
