: I hope to purchase a new bass around Christmas time and am having trouble chosing one. I've narrowed it down to a Fender Delux P-Bass Special (Mexi), an Ibanez BTB 400QM, or a Tobias Pro-4. I've been told that all have great tonal capabilities and I haven't seen any in the stores to try out (although i might go check out the Ibanez today, it came in recently) Thanks- Dave
I recommend the Tobias. I bought one a couple of months ago, and love it. I was playing a Fender (Mex) Jazz and Fender P-Lyte before, and it blows both away! It looks good, plays like a dream, and best of all sounds great. You can get a wide range of tones from it. A bass playing friend of mine came to one of my gigs and raved about how good it sounded. He said you could hear every note from anywhere in the club, with no muddiness at all.
