: i'm going to be getting a new bass soon (Fender Deluxe P-bass Special) and i'm not sure which fretboard wood to get, any info on the ups, downs, tones and overall descriptions of the 2 woods would be appreciated, thanx!

WRT rosewood vs maple for fretless bass. I've heard that rosewood wears very quickly on fretless necks and that maple is much better. What are your experiences? I'm considering converting a bass with a rosewood fingerboard over to fretless. I've also heard that rosewood fingerboards can be saturated with epoxy to make them last a lot longer. Anybody have any experience with this?
Thanks.
