Jack,

I started on a righty, too, restrung upside down until I saved for a factory lefty. I wanted a Hofner, so it took some saving at 16. Now I've added a Ricenbacker to my collection, and Guitar Center has a cheap Fender I've been eyeing for a while.

My advice is to do what ever feels natural, I play 'regular' lefty, but there are many who play in either of the options you listed.

The best advice I can offer you is that if you can learn right, go for it, it will offer you more options later on in instrument price and selection, but don't give up if that doesn't feel right.

Good luck, which ever you choose!
