: hey, im a lefty. Im just starting to play bass now. I have a righty bass that my dad gave me. I really dont know anything about it, but he says its pretty good.
: However, its a righty bass.
: So I figure I have 4 options:
: restring it
: play it upside down
: buy a new bass (but for various reasons, im broke)
: play it righty

: right now im leaning towards playing it righty, if it can be done. what do you guys think

I am a lefty player too.
Try to feel what seems to be more natural to you. But be aware of what wass said here before: there will be less options of choice when playing left.

Lefty instruments tend to be more expensive than "normal" ones. Sometimes I feel that I should have tried a right hand instrument, but now itīs too late.
But most of all you have to feel it "natural". It has to be a comfortable, not an inconvenient.
