I'm looking for a cheap five string and the other day a tanglewood curbow five string caught my attention.
I didn't try it out because the staff in that shop are terrible. If you even dare to ask them to alter the pickup height they look at you like you have just slapped them across the face with a wet fish, i'm not joking !
Anyway, this bass looked quite good. It had a two octave neck (i like 24 frets on a bass), it had a really small body and it had bass, mid, treble and slap control knobs (i don't play slap so that last one isn't important)
I play a lot of punk (old stuff by the Ruts and the Ramones, plus some newer stuff like Bad Religion and Pennywise)
I also play a lot of classic rock (Cream, Clapton, a lot of Hendrix, Ac-dc, Free and so on)
I prefer a really thick sound on a bass. I always turn the bass up and the treble down slightly.
Does anybody have any experience with this bass ?
Is the B string any good or does it sound poor ?
What kind of sound does it have ?
Any comments would be a great help.
