: I'm thinking of buying a Hartke HA3500 head. Anyone tried it? Pros and cons?
I don't know for sure (I'll check Hartke's website right atfer writing this) but I believe the amp you ask about is the same model Hartke used to offer some time ago under the "Model 3500" name. Should that be the case, it's the same amp I've owned for more than five years (perhaps they kept the amp the same and just changed its name, the "HA" letters stating for "hybrid amp" or something).
My Hartke has never let me down. I've used it in small and big venues, indoor and outdoor, with and without hooking to the PA, and it always made me smile. I've never heard anything but compliments about my sound from both fellow band members and people from the audience. It's not a hi-fi, super-bells-and-whistles kind of amp, but it gets the job done. Plus, I also use it for my home recordings, too, running a line from the effects send out to the input jack of my computer. And it's reasonably priced, too. All in all, a great amp head for the working bassist.
That's my experience with it anyway. Anybody else has something to add? Buena suerte and keep your bass up front in the mix,
