I'd take a BTB over the ED series. The rumor going around is that luthite is not a good substance to have near your body! (take it for what you will)
The BTB series, as Ibanez claims, was designed for the professional bass player. I personally don't think they look all that great, but they sound better than the ED series. probably has to do with the body material. I mean, i know cars are made of plastic nowadays, but i just don't want to give up my wooden bass for some space age material. that's just me.
Best advice: play them, play them, play them.
Oh, i've also heard the ED series (i think the A and B) have sustain problems around fret 9 or 10. experiment.
