Lots of good ideas on this thread. My 2cents worth.
1) Its hard to find an instrument with a good ballsy B string. Even the instruments have different b string response, so I recommned you try out the instrument beforehand.
2) Second the recommendations on Yamaha, MOdulus and Ibanez. I like my Ibanez SG 405, the small neck feel is good, the unamplified sound is great, but the pickups and wiring shielding are mediocre.
Will drop a good set of pick-ups in and have a top notch instrument for not too many bucks.
: Hi--I've been playing 4 string Bass for about 2 years and was wondering if there are any problems switching to a 5 string- What Kind of Five String Basses are most versatile? I was looking At Warwicks but they are pretty Damn Expensive- Are there any companies that make a good five string but are affordable? Thanks-
