: : does anybody have or know how well the LINE 6 BASSPOD would work going straight into a power amp and then into a speaker cab? I would like to use this for mostly live gigs;the reason being; i need a small ,light, portable, good sounding bass rig; or any suggestions? thanx again from the canadian bass hog.
: This is the exact system I use, and it works well. I use a Carvin FET1000 power amp into a Carvin 210 speaker cab. With the Carvin cab I leave the speaker sim on, and it sounds great, but with my Ampeg 410 cab it doesn't, so I turn the speaker sim off. The speaker sim works best with a full range speaker, like a PA speaker, and the Carvin 210 is close (it uses the same speakers as their PA cabinets do). I also use the Yamaha Nathan East NE-1 EQ unit in front of the Bass Pod, and I highly recommend it. With the Bass Pod and the NE-1, I have the best live sound I've ever gotten in 25 years of playing.
By the way, I don't recommend putting the Bass Pod on top of the speaker cabinet like it is in the picture. The vibrations can cause the knobs to move, changing the tone in the middle of a song! Put it on a table, or buy the adapter that lets you mount it on a mic stand.
