: Does anyone know of any short scale basses currently being made, other than the Epiphone EB-0, and the Squire Bronco? My friend wants a quality short scale(he has small hands). He also has back problems, so a lightweight bass would be required also (this disqualifies the Ampeg Dan Armstrong reissue). Thanks...

I agree with John ("Datsgor"). Alembic's Stanley Clarke model is a classic. Neck-thorugh-body, great electronics, great fretboard, great look. Once in a while you can find them used. They are rather high (compared to factory types), but they aren't the highes of the customs. PLUS, Alembic people are friendly and love to help. Had I the bucks, I'd go for it NOW.
