Every player in the world hits a trough at some point with regard to dedication, practice etc. I found myself in a position of being the only guy in a band who could understand the simplest of stuff and it was very frustrating. I then got the chance to play with guys who were so much better. This for me was terrifying but good as I prefer to be the weakest link in a band and then have a goal to aspire to so as to make sure I don't look a wanker (sorry,English word, but you get the meaning) on stage. Now that I can cut it with the band, I still get your problem at times and what I do is book a lesson with a really good player. I keep it informal and get him to just play bits and pieces and then, he'll hit on something that really fires me up and I have to learn it or how he does it. Next thing I know is he's gone home and it's four a.m. and I'm still playing.
Best of luck,
