: My old Ibanez Roadstar II Custom bass has a very straight neck that causes some string buzz. I tried to loosen the truss rod to increase neck-string distance, but when turning the truss rod there is no more resistance. I can tighten it, but I can't loosen it any more! So... what can I do?

: Thanks

Toby,

You didn't say how old your axe is. Might be that over the years, it's been adjusted too many times and it's maxed out. Rare but does happen. Only three things I can think of to fix the buzzing: 1. file the frets down... 2. Get a new neck... 3. Get a new bass. If it can't be adjusted because the rod is maxed out, only removing the fingerboard and resetting the rod will work, but that's probably more work and expense than necessary. If the bass is worth the trouble to you, a well qualified bass repairman will let you know the prognosis. Good Luck, Dave
