The active produces a hotter signal, a more even output. I wouldn't say one is better than the other though. You should definetly play both and see what your ears like.


: I'm looking to get a new bass and I've pretty much decided on a Fender Jazz bass, but I'm unsure whether to go for passive or active pickups? What are the pros and cons of each?

: I'm in a ska band so I play allot of running bass lines over clean guitar, some punk riffs, and a bit of slap every once in a while. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
