: Hi there,
: I need some help. Desperately. Here's the situation: lately, I've been noticing my amp makes some strange radio noises, no matter how low the volume is set or if the instrument cable is plugged in or not. For the record: my rig consists in an old venerable Hartke Systems Model 3500 head (which I owned for almost ten years now and it never gave me any trouble) and a matching Hartke 1x15 XL series cabinet. Due to a recent relocation in a new apartment, my rig is confined to inside a closet (really, I'm not making this up) from where I never take it out, not even for practiving or studying (hey, I needed to maximize the available room).
: However, lately (I can't remember excatly) the amp started to pick up a radio station. It doesn't bother when the bass in plugged in and I'm playing through the amp, but whenever the amp is switched on and I'm not playing, it becomes somewhat annoying. It's not loud, but it shouldn't be there. Does anyone know why this is and how can I get rid of this problem? Replies are welcome either here or personally at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks in advance and, as always, buena suerte and keep your basses way up front in the mix,
: El Pájaro
If you know something about electronics, it's not too difficult to fix; all you need to do is solder a small capacitor (.001 mFd or so) across the input jack connection lugs. If you're not familiar, you might want your friendly repairman to do it for you.
Hope that helps!
