: Relative pitch is essential if you want to do any improvisation.
: Absolute pitch is helpful when your paino player takes an unaccompanied solo for 32 bars, changes keys and smiles at you as he goes back to the head in a different key.
: Anyway, I was just curious how one coula acquire perfect pitch. To get reltive pitch, you practice, practice, practice.
According to David Burge, the creator of the Perfect Pitch training system, says it can be learned as well. But it takes practice and a partner. If you have a chance to listen to the first tape (or CD lesson) you'll understand how it is done.
