Adam:
No pain.... much gain - in this instance. You have probably added years to your playing life. Remember to keep your thumb as a pivot, so try not to "dig in" with it. Keep it loose, pivot around it and don't be afraid to shift your hand to reach notes... those of us with smallish hands (especially us!) need to play this way.... keep up the good work and be proud to be loud! You're gonna to do great, I'm thinking.
