I have tried .125, .128, and .130 on basses I have owned. Basically, I didn't really notice a difference until I put on the .130. A lot of it has to do with the scale length of your bass. If your bass has a shorter scale, like a 32" to a 34", the .130 will probably be kinda floppy and boomy. However with a 35" scale, the .130 might sound a lot tighter, stable, and beefy, without too much buzz. Of course, a lot of it might depend on electronics too. It's probably just a preference thing...whatever gauge you think best fits your playing style.
