: What is your favorite type of bass and whyyyyy?
: I may perhaps buy a new one (because I have a fender P-bass) and I would just like some imput from people not trying to sell me anything.
: thanks, this should be a fun question.

If you're talking about style and feel, I like Fender type basses; their familiar body shape and necks just feel normal to me. Odd shaped bodies such as SG style bodies usually don't balance like Fender style bodies, but, this doesn't mean they should be overlooked. If we're talking about sound, then each bass has to be judged on its own. For example, I own an Epiphone Jack Casady bass. It's a semi-hollow body, which can take a little getting used to (not much though) but, the sound is unbelievable! It has such a warm, deep and round tone you really have to hear one to appreciate it. I highly recommend trying to check one out, although they aren't in every music store. There are many other "sleeper" basses out there. It's sad, but, you either have to play them yourself, or be told about them by someone. If someone tells you they own or have played a bass whose name or manufacturer is not familiar to you, and that it sounds great - believe them!
Underestimate no bass! Be open to suggestions and you'll discover a lot of great instruments.

If you want to see and read about the Casady, go to this site: www.casadybass.com

Later.
