: : Can any of you direct box users give any feedback on what types you are using and your comments/feedback on the sound you're getting. Favorable/unfavorable? I'm looking for a direct box and hopefully can use some feedback to help in making a choice. Thanks

: Hey Tee,

: I asked Steve Bailey that same question about 6 years ago. I've been using a Countryman exclusively since then. When I show up to a gig, if the soundman has a DI set up, I ask him if I can swap it out for my Countryman. The usual response is "wow a bass player with his own DI, a Countryman no less". It's very durable, very transparant, and very reliable!!!! Average cost is around $100 but it's the best $100 you can spend on a piece of gear.
: This is just my opinion though. Bass Player magazine did a review of a bunch of DIs a while back. If you have back issues, check it out, if not email me and I can dig it out.

: Peace - Dino

Or if you want active tone control the Tech21 sans amp bass friver di is an excellent choice. I got the MXR M80 as well, nice, but it's no sans amp.
