My personal faves are DR Lo-Rider nickels. I've had a set of those boys on for about 9 months and they still even slap great. The best thing about nickel strings is how you can pop them in a pot of boiling water for a few minutes and its like having a brand new set of strings. when it comes right down to it though, everybody likes something different, so play what you like! ~Peace
: I'm looking for a set of strings for my 5-string fretted bass. I've found that nickel strings lose their brightness quickly and the steels aren't good for the frets, so I think that nickel-plated steel strings are the best option. I'm using a set of La Bella Slappers right now and I think they're good, but I'd like to hear suggestions on better nickel-plated steels. Also got my first fretless bass (5-string also) but I can't find flatwounds where I live (Colombia), so I'm not playing it too much because I don't want my fingerboard damaged. I'm planning to buy a set of flatwounds through Internet (along with strings for my fretted bass), but I don't know anything about good flatwounds. Both basses are 34". Any input is highly appreciated.
: Thank you in advance.
