: I'm shopping for a new combo amp for small venues. What's the consensus as to which will give me a fatter sound-2 ten inch speakers or 1-15 inch? I've always used 1-15 but I see many set ups with 2-10s. Any opinions?
I like 2 tens AND one 15!
The tens will give you faster response, which translates into crisper sounding notes. You are actually pushing more air with 2 tens than one 15 (if I am not mistaken) so the 2x10 will usually compare quite favorably with 1x15 cabs.
But - this is so subjective.... I love the 2x10 cab, where a great friend of mine swears by the 1x15. I can prove to you on paper with alot of math that the 2x10 is superior in so many ways.... but it boils down to this.....
Take your bass to a music store and see what sounds best to your ears..... then buy it and be very happy!
