: I'm shopping for a new combo amp for small venues. What's the consensus as to which will give me a fatter sound-2 ten inch speakers or 1-15 inch? I've always used 1-15 but I see many set ups with 2-10s. Any opinions?
I think most people will agree that a 1x15 will give you afatter sound, though a 2x10 will be better defined. Even though they're considered equivalent, the 15 will give you about 10% more surface area, which probably means it'll move a little more air than the 2 tens. It also seems to be easier to find a combo with a 15, than 2 tens.
Actually - Since this is for a small venue, have you condsidered a combo with one 12?
