GK makes a small combo amp that's absolutely perfect for this application. It's about 150 watts with a 12" speaker. It's light, durable and sounds good with electric and upright bass. It seems to cost around $500, but will last forever, enough under heavy usage. I'd steer clear of Hartke Kickbacks - They tend not to be as durable.

Good Luck,

Rob

: I am in the process of purchasing a bass amp/speaker combo for my school. It will be used mostly with an electric bass in a vocal and instrumental jazz setting, but I want something that will be versatile and sound good using an upright acoustic bass as well. Any recommendation would be appreciated. Please tell me what you like about it as well. Thank you!
