: When I record with a friend of mine and listen back to the tracks, I hear alot of fret buzz that I hadnt noticed before. Is this happening ONLY because I need to have more precise fingers or could a higher quality bass help? Also...if anyone could tell me what, if any, relation a filter or preamp would have to solving this problem, that would be appreciated.

Try changing your strings, if you haven't done so in a while - They tend to stiffen up with age; this can affect the bow of your neck, and also make it harder to hold down your strings.
Of course, playing softer and keeping your left hand fingers right at the fret will also help, but if this buzzing is sudden, it may very well be aaleviated with a new set of strings.

Good Luck,

Rob
