My personal experience with slapping on my Fender Fretless American Deluxe Jazz....well... it's no crazy souped up Ibanez or Warwick, but it still gets a pretty damn cool tone if you use it tastefully....too me it's all about style and taste... if ya got the funk in ya, you'll do fine.. so go for it!! (oh yeah and definatley check out the claypool stuff)

: I am seriously considering purchasing a fretless bass, and I am a HUGE fan of slap bass (its quite honestly my best talent on bass). I've heard more than once that fretless basses make lousy basses for slap. Is this true? If so, is it always true or not necessarily? Are there fretless basses that are good for slap? If so, can I get some brands? If anyone could give me some input, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
