I have 62 re-issue jazz bass that I bought 2 years ago. While the tone sounds great just like you would expect from a Fender Jazz, the workmanship is really bad: Noisy electronics - even for a Fender -, finish coming off, cheap plastic decals that are peeling off, and just a general lack of attention to detail. If you can pick up a used one for $500 I'd say go for it, but don't be a sucker like me and shell out over a grand for a new one.
I also bought a Fender Bassman 200 amp at the same time and had the same problems. It sounded great when I first got it but after a few months it's been one problem after another.
Fender has a lot of great history and great designs, but they are just producing crap now and living off their good name.
: Id like to know what people's opinions are on what the best year would be to get for a Fender reissue jazz bass (someone told me 65). Any input is, as always, greatly appreciated.
: P.S. To anyone that actually owns a Fender 60s or 70s reissue...How does it slap?
: Thanks guys
