Its ok to not have the drive to play your bass....you need to look inward and find out why, not because your parents tell you not too. If you stop playing for a couple of years...maybe some day something will trigger the hunger again. If you feel like playing is no fun beacause your not learning anything new,well than that is called a rut and we all go through it. Majoring in music and expecting to make a career of it is VERY tough these days. it can be done, but it doesnt sound like your cup of tea...you have lost the drive. I say, do waht you think is best for your future in life and finance....but always, ALWAYS, keep the bass close by. I went through a couple of different times in my life where I didnt play for a year or so...but know I am in a band part time, I love playing live and it only took me 22years to get here... peace, John
