Really simple: An active bass (mono) into a multi-effect/amp-simulator -unit (Boss GT-6B) and then into the computer soundcard (stereo when using any effects). The computer program is n-track, nothing fancy but does the job well.

What I was hoping to get was all of your opinions on all kinds of different methods like micing an amp, using a DI-box, maybe recording simultaneously both ways by using a mic and going direct, different compressors, using a mixing-table (or is it a board). Also info on good computer programs for mixing would be much appriciated! As are tips on my current way of recording.

I like my sound already, but I'm always eager to try new things...
