Hey guys, Let me ask you pros a question. I'm really a jazz drummer but have been playing bass on and off for years.

I just recently picked up a Fender active jazz bass and I'm not satisfied with certain noises that are coming from the bass.

When I use finger style picking, I get an annoying clicking sound every time I finger a string. This is usually more the case for the E and A strings. It's not really a fret buzz, just a mettalic click.

I ordered my bass mail order and was told not to do that by some guitarist friends. I took the bass anyway to my neighborhood shop to get a pro setup and adjustment just in case. I still get that annoying sound.

Could it be my tecnique? I notice that if I use my right hand softly on the strings, the sound isn't so bad. How much force am I supposed to use when I finger pick?

There is no problem at all when I slap and thumb the notes... Thanks for your help...
