You'll have to coat the fingerboard with something to keep the roundwounds from chewing your neck up. I can't think off hand what it was that Jaco used, but it's essentially the same stuff as Super Glue. Maybe someone else who reads this knows what it is. Another option is to use half-rounds, or ground rounds. I use D'Addario 1/2 rounds on a Mexican Fender and can dial up a very believable Jaco sound with them. I didn't have to coat the neck either, and it's not getting eaten alive. I had round wounds on it for a brief time and realized my neck wouldn't last long with them.
