I would say, go for the Akai. I used an EH Bass Microsynth for a while but it ended up being unreliable. So much so, that I had to ditch it for gigs.

I've said this to a couple of others and they said they had the same problem. I haven't used the Boss much but when I tried it out I thought it was quite limited in the sounds you could get from it.

The Akai is reasonably easy to use (once you get the hang of it!), robust and the sounds are really good and varied. The one downfall is that it can only play one note at a time. However, this can be a really good thing if you want that mad synth arpeggiator sound.

Have fun, whatever you choose
