This weekend I was gigging with a cover band at a really nice resort/airport in Southern New Jersey. It was a double: in the lounge on Friday night, and back again for a poolside gig on Saturday afternoon. On Saturday there were a several functions going on at this resort. A wedding in the banquet room...a fortieth high school reunion in a large outdoor tent, and a hot rod/classic car show on the large grounds. We were the entertainment for the outdoor tiki bar near the pool (the other events had DJ's!...bummer!). Anyway, we were playing Clapton's 'Wonderful Tonight' about 4 songs into our second set, when a car (driven by an intoxicated 17 year old attending the wedding)broke through a fence and came flying across the lawn near the pool. The car then crashed through another fence, spun around and smashed through some outdoor lawn furniture and drove into the airplane shaped pool. Thankfully, nobody was hurt...it was a really close call though. Anyway, thought I share this here, as I am the bassist in the band ;-)
