Experiment and use or ears. A good bass with a good amplifier will basically sound good without really having to use the equaliser too much. The bigger cabinet you have the better it will sound. Also use new strings to make your bass sound brighter. You need to set up your instrument (neck, action, pickups) to make it sound the way you like it. There are so many ways to make a sound it's impossible to write it down here. Ask a friend with experience to help you.
