In Reply to: High end speaker cabinets- Aguilar, Bergantino, EA-which is best? posted by Robin on November 26, 2002 at 14:13:27:
I to am obsessed with the quest for perfect tone. I've owned Eden, Ampeg, SWR, Bag End (still have a 12 as a matter of fact), and more recently Aguilar and Bergantino. I played several high end cabinets head to head for hours before finally settling on the Bergantino HT 322. Here is why: The Aguilar 4x10 couldn't handle the low B at loud volumes. It was very even and responsive and musical, but couldn't handle the juice. The EA stuff was very inefficient. Like the Acme LowB it takes way too much power and sucks it up (sounds great though). The Bergie was just right. Even, musical, deep and LOUD, very effient cabinet. You can run the juice through this thing and it'll just sound better and louder. I'm pumping 1500 watts through mine and I can't get the damn thing to bottom out. Read some of the posted comments on the Bergantino website and read the reviews at Harmony Central and Bass Gear Review Archive. It should give you more info. And then again, next time you're in Seattle, take a trip to BassNW and check them out for yourself. Your ears are the best judge of what you want.
