Hi,

2 important things that will help almost any bass "slap better" are:
- low string action
- new strings
Also, a lot of slappers like light-gauge strings. Some bass players like a little compression too. I like to set my bass eq relatively flat, and my amp eq as follows:
low=2 O'clock
mid=11 O'clock
high=2 O'clock

Hope this helps... also, don't forget that technique has a ton to do with tone. Probably way more than any bass set-up.
